Brenda Rice Allison, founder and Chief Executive of Cultivating Purpose Across Cultural Differences (CPACD), a non-profit organization based in Rockwell, Texas, has called on the Mayor of Accra to discuss ways to support and enhance the personal and social skills of residents.

Speaking during the discussions, she mentioned the provision of boreholes, household toilet facilities, educational scholarships, mentorship programmes as well as livelihood support programs for women among others as areas of interest.

Brenda Rice Allison who is also a speech therapist said her organization was to serve individuals and families in Accra with basic necessities such as water, and toiletries among others.

She noted that CPACD was devoted to supporting residents in the city with mentorship programmes, educational resources and scholarship opportunities as well as vocational and skills training.

The Mayor of Accra, Hon Elizabeth, K .T Sackey who welcomed Brenda Rice Allison and her team to the AMA embraced the support and spoke passionately about women’s empowerment.

She noted that it was her vision to empower women and girls in the city to be independent and was happy they would benefit from her support.

“When empowering women, they become better, and it triggers down to communities and families,” adding that peace and progress cannot be sustained without women’s equal access to opportunities and participation,” she said.

Head of Waste Management of AMA in a remark noted that the support in that area of providing toilet facilities to households would go a long way to complement efforts by the assembly to end open defecation in the city and promote personal hygiene.
